The reason why I need a bit more time to render my video:

I went to New Jersey From Friday to Sunday. Back here at Sunday late night without rendering anything out......and it took more time than I thought.
(Gone for my cousins wedding)
rnrcaitheknot.com  is the website of my cousin's wedding.

And also, the reason why I did not finish rendering my video before noon and waste time at clinic :
I burned my hand because I poured boiled water on my hand by accident when making tea. (On Monday morning 9 o'clock after my guests, who stayed at my apartment overnight, had left and I came to studio)
I keep my hand in cold water for hours but still hurt a lot and it's hard to use computer for one hand. I went to clinic on campus and the lady at the desk said I didn't turn in the form, I shouldn't be able to enroll, why there's no record.....and blablabla I didn't brought my insurance card and she want me to do it right now.....anyway, at last I asked her can I get my hand fix first, she grab my form back and said "Okay, go sit and wait them call you!" Well, my hand really hurts and I never forgot to paid the clinic fee every semester.....The TB shot record in her computer sounds more important for her.
I didn't get ANY email or any information from Pratt that request me to turn in any health check form before I came to Pratt. I got to know this when I twisted my wrist in midterm and I went to the clinic on campus last year. They found I have no record, and asked me to turn in a form. I remember that I asked her when should I turn in the form, she said whenever I am done. I did go to see my family doctor, and she said the only shot (they marked and request me to take on the form) I haven't done, is not necessary. No one in NY are doing this nowadays. So, my form is not complete.

Thesis II W8

For this week:
Animation

Thesis paper finished chapter 2

CHAPTER 2
INFLUENCES

Subsection

My relationship to plants begin in childhood. From the earliest age I can  remember, I played in the small garden on the balcony of my apartment in Taipei city. My grandfather also had a garden at his house in the countryside. He loved to take care of plants. Both my father and I inherited my grandfather’s passion for plants. Such a variety of plants in the house taught me how to care for different species of plants. I still love to keep plants and observe how they look every day. When I look at all of my lush green plants, I feel relaxed. To me, plants are part of my life. These plants feels like friends.
After I graduated from college, I came to New York City to earn my masters degree. I currently live with three roommates in a nice apartment where lots of sunshine comes in through big windows. My roommates and I all bought plenty of potted plants. Unfortunately,  none of the plants that my roommates bought lived for long. My roommates didn’t know how to properly care for their plants and they thought it would be easy. Once the plants began to look sick and dead, they threw them out. I did give them some suggestion when I saw they were not treating their plants well. But they didn’t care. I also found lots of potted plants thrown out on the street. I felt sad when I realized their  negligence towards plants.

Thesis paper outline:
CHAPTER
1. INTRODUCTION   _________________________________________1

2. INFLUENCES  ____________________________________________3
Personal inspiration
Own experience :
-Childhood encounter with plants in dad’s garden
-taking care of plants
-living with other people and found their negligence towards plants
-my response towards people viewing plants as something to be throwing away
-how easily people forgot plants
-our responsibility towards plants
-Plants are not thought as living beings having their own souls, instead they are considered as commodities which one can buy under five dollars and not feel the slightest pinch of throwing away a living being. In this way plants are treated as objects to beautify the place and something which can be replaced with a new one when its  purpose is done.

Outside inspiration
Documentary
-Michael Pollan botany of desire
: how plants influnece human beings in a way
thinking about how plants control human
-A research where two plants are given different treatments
One is spoken to in a positive manner, and the other in a negative manner
The result shows that the plant receiving positive words grew taller and healthier as opposed to the plant who received negative words.
-Dr. Masaru Emoto’s water experiments
-A similar research was proven by scientists only in this research they used water, frozen water. The water that received good music and positive words crystallized into a beautiful design as opposed to water which received negative words it turned into something humans won’t appreciate.
Books, articles
-The Dominat Animal- Huamn evolution and the Environment
-Nature Wars-The incredible Story of How Wildlife Comebacks Turned Backards into Battlegrounds
Field observation
-The Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens
-Brooklyn Botanic Garden
-New York Botanical Garden
manicure garden the plants are taken care, Utopia for plants lovers and plants as well
A vast place reminds me about a place plants are not discarded away
A place where people realize the beauty of plants, and appreciate the company of plants
even back at home they might throw away plants
Artist,Movies
-Little Shop of Horrors (1986 film)
3. STORYTELLING   _________________________________________8
Story structure
-Begins with the introduction to the human city and people buying plants. The plants are taken into humans home. And showcase human abuseing and negalecting plants. And eventually throw them away. In the darkness of the night, the plants grow to be larger than life, and encapsulate the whole city and end up taking revenge on the humans.
-issue of content: first story>>and now/ how my story come to this
-My story is intend to show the plants point of view
-biggest problem
-The whole story is an ironical outlook on the classic horror films
-The setting is a humorous take on that stucture
-The film emphasizes this more through the use of comical sounds
Storyboard
-different camera angle
-time of changing storyboard
-how to tell the same story in different ways
Pacing
-human are setting off the time bomb which is ticking away
-story builds up to apoclyptic situation bestowed on the humans by the plants
humans going to die
4. AESTHETIC ISSUES   _____________________________________19
Scene design
-inspired by a NYC like structure
Hand drawing style
-a paintery
Color design
-the color change with the animation to emphasize the plants movenment
- the atmosphere matters a lot to show the bustling city life as well as the creepiness of the night to attack humans
Mood
-A spoof making fun of classic horror genre
Character design
-The nature look of plants character that doesn’t have face
-Original design the plants has teeth, eventually I decided not to have mouth, which is like to to put human characteristics on the plants and show them more as individual being apart from humans

-The sound brings the plants alive
